About Worship at Saint Gabriel

A core value: worshipping in the classical Anglican tradition with biblical and Christ-centered liturgy and music.

To all who are weary and in need of rest;
to all who mourn and long for comfort;
to all who feel lost and worthless and wonder if God even cares;
to all who fall and desire victory;
to all who sin and need a Savior;
to all who hunger and thirst for justice and righteousness;
and to whoever else will come,
this church opens wide her doors and offers welcome
in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
(adapted from Ray Ortland)

Today, to walk through the doors of a church is a step of hope and often courage. We are glad you may take that step - a step toward true worship and perhaps a step toward finding "home."

Human beings are created in God's image for worship. Saint Augustine held that our hearts are restless until they find their rest in God. God, in mercy, doesn't leave us to grope and grasp on our own, but comes to us, seeks us, finds us, and welcomes us home. A good home is what we experience when we come to worship God together as God's people.

A good home is where burdens are lifted and joys confirmed. A good home is where healthy meals are enjoyed, stories told and re-told, and life is shared.

We at Saint Gabriel are far from perfect. We have burdens that we carry and joys that we celebrate. Our simple aim is be the place where Jesus invites people home.

Particulars
From September through May we offer two Sunday morning liturgies, both of which include prayer, the celebration of Communion (also known as the Eucharist, Lord’s Supper or “Mass”), readings from the Bible, and a sermon that addresses the how we fit into God's great story, and how God's great story applies to our lives today. Every Sunday we celebrate and give thanks for God’s many gifts, chiefly God’s gift of Jesus Christ. On Sunday evenings at 5 pm, during Lent and summertime, we hold a quietly contemporary service we call The Gathering. There is a smaller regular congregation of 30 communicates who love to welcome guests. For many first time guest to Saint Gabriel, The Gathering  service functions as a wide-doorway, low threshold entry into the life of this Christian community.

In general, some folks put on their Sunday best - while others whatever strikes them for the moment. It is Colorado after all!  We may be more formal in our worship format, but we aim to be friendly - and relaxed. You won’t be singled out or asked to do anything awkward. You are invited to stay for a cup of coffee but we won’t pressure you to do so. We would like to introduce ourselves and get to know you. And if you care to tell us we'd like to hear about what led you to attend. We trust you will find a community of people seeking to worship and love God, follow Jesus, and be transformed in the power of the Holy Spirit.

At the end of the day we are people from different walks of life who have a diversity of life experiences. We are simply people embracing the way of Christ - the way of love - fellow pilgrims in the movement Jesus set in motion over 2,000 years ago.

May we simply encourage you to come?
What to expect at our Sunday services – Hope. Reverence. Joy. Welcome. Love.
